SIR,—The following extract from a letter from a relative in Canada may interest you as illustrating the point of view of a Canadian voter :-

" The General Election will be on by the time this reaches you. I fancy Laurier won't get in again, or if he does it will be with a very small majority. I have voted for him for a long time now, but I can't stand this reciprocity business, or his idea that in case of war Canada would stand neutral if she wished it. It looks to me as if his real idea was Canadian independence, which would ultimately mean Canada joining the States." (September 4th.)
