'Young Winston'

Sir: Your Will Waspe column is often amusing—but was (August 26) inaccurate and possibly damaging to the repuation of a major new British film, Young Winston. For your contributor to write that he hears " authoritatively" that "customers are not exactly flocking to see Young Winston can only indicate that his informant was either malicious or careless of fact.

Young Winston took 6160,000 in its nine-week run at the Odeon, Leicester Square. It has broken a number of records — notably, that at the end of its third week total box office receipts were greater than for any Columbia film ever to play the theatre, and this includes Oliver!, Waterloo, Cromwell, Nicholas and Alexandra, Lawwrence of Arabia and Funny Girl. In fairness to the fine team of creative artists responsible for Young Winston, I very much hope you will set the record straight.
