Sir: Christopher Booker deserves the thanks and the respect of

all the victims of racialism, Jews especially, for his logical good sense and fairness in commenting on the TV production Holocaust. It is certainly time that we Jews (and Jews are not all Zionists, hard as it is to convince people of the fact) were told that between the Herrenvolk and God's chosen people there are similarities other than the name, and claim: and that the contrast has been more of degree than of principle.

Mr Booker is right to remind us that from the treatment of the people of Jericho to the blowing up of the King David hotel and the forcible expulsion of the Palestinians from their four century old homeland, it has been Jewish doctrines of racial purity and master race hegemony that not only caused but probably suggested the whole basic philosophy (if one can call it that) of Hitler's Reich.

It is a poor service to the victims in the Nazi concentration camps, and they were not all Jews (we hear very little about the extermination of the gypsies, for instance), to dwell upon the evil of Hitler's Germany while staying silent about the evil of Begin's Israel. The whole well orchestrated outcry against 'racialism' inevitably makes public opinion dubious of its sincerity while it continues to denounce what is going on in, say South Africa, while keeping an awkward silence about what is going on in Israel.
