The Parliamentary returns of Exports and Imports for July and

for the first six months of the year have been published, and show a depressed state of our Export trade. The most remarkable feature is the falling off in the American trade. To the Atlantic ports of the United States we exported during the Midsummer quarter of this year little more than a million's worth of goods, as compared with three millions' worth and a half in 1860, and near five millions' worth and a half in the same quarter of 1859, which would seem. to imply that our trade thither is fast becoming a vanishing quantity. On the other hand, our imports from America are increasing ap- parently as fast as our exports thither fall off.
