Egypt Then and Now

SIR,—Many years ago I used to copy extracts from articles in the Spectator. This week I turned up the following, taken from the issue of April 30th, 1910:— The Discharge of our Egyptian Trust—" What we must not do is to abandon our- trust merely because of our own doubts and fears— through some dread, that is, as to our own competence. Only men who are feeble or negligent, or both, and have lost their nerve, back out of a difficult position because they think they are not equal to the task or because they are subject to criticism and complaint."

These words seem particularly appropriate at the present time.-1 am,

Sir, yours faithfully, MARGARET K. B. WARD. 5 Arlebury Park, Alresford, Hants.
