Escalators

Sir: Further to your article on the lack of maintenance on London Transport (Lead- er, 17 August), 1 should like to add a complaint to the already considerable amount you have received.

I am a very badly disabled person employed by Scotland Yard at their office directly above Pimlico Tube Station. I travel daily to work by this means of transport (my only way). The escalators at the station have been under repair for a considerable time and when I went to the stationmaster with a complaint about this unconscionable delay and the considerable trouble it was causing me, I was told rather abruptly that I could use either Victoria or Vauxhall — both miles away.

I am a regular reader of your excellent journal and find your insight on topics of the week very refreshing; would it be possible to enquire further into this matter?
