HOLIDAY ROCKS

Diamonds have always been prized for their hardness as well as their beauty. These little fragments of eternity, formed from layers of carbon, bond to make the strongest link in chemistry and the hardest substance known to man. A diamond can easily scratch a pane of glass – as a child Nicholas II scribbled messages on the windows of the Hermitage with a diamond-tipped Faberge pen. So take care packing for your holiday because diamonds can easily scratch each other. Wrap them separately. preferably in a jewellery roll and always in your hand luggage. The fashionable diamond briolette beads make excellent travelling companions cut to the shape of the natural crystal. They make wonderful body jewellery such as belly chains and studs. An icy white diamond solitaire necklace or simple diamond earstuds are also versatile, giving a younger, more informal look which accentuates a tan like nothing else. Cool and contemporary these gently shimmering stones are the only thing to be seen dripping with on a beach.
