The General Association of Church Schoolmasters held sittings in Shaftesbury

Hall, Aldersgate Street, on Thursday and yesterday. va- rious papers were read and discussed on matters connected with educa- tion ; and lessons were given to boys brought from adjacent schools for the occasion. Yesterday there was some interesting but fruitless discus- sion as to bow far Church schoolmasters could act with Dissenting school- masters. It was agreed on all hands that the Scripture should be the basis of education ; and there was a strong feeling in favour of acting on educational matters with Dissenters. Yesterday evening the proceedings closed with a tea-party.
