After a trial lasting for sixty-nine days, the Special Tribunal

appointed for the purpose delivered judgment at Bombay last Saturday upon the Nasik conspiracy case. It will be remembered that the prosecution, which involved thirty-eight persons, arose from the murder of Mr. Jackson a year ago. Eleven of the prisoners were discharged, and the remainder received varying sentences, the most severe being upon Savarkar, who was condemned to transportation for life and the forfeiture of his property. It is apparently possible that a further charge of abetment to murder may be brought against him ; but in any event the sentence cannot be carried out until after the decision of the Hague Tribunal upon the question of his escape and recapture at Marseilles.
