Grit. By George Hamby Russell. (John Murray. 6s.)—This is a

novel of the wilds of South Africa, and the adventures of the boy hero, Oliver Longworthy, among the savages are most exciting. It is too much to expect subtle character-drawing in a book of this kind; but the author contrives that Oliver's figure shall be quite likeable, and the reader is able to take a real interest in him.
