BADGER-BAITING

[To the Editor of the SPECTATOR.] SIR,—In a recent account of the performances of a pack of fox-hounds it was reported that when the fox had gone to ground a terrier was put in with the object of bolting him, but a badger was bolted instead. Hounds killed him, and a second badger was also accounted for.

It would be interesting to know whether the familiar argu- ments in favour of fox-hunting apply equally in favour of badger-baiting.--I am, Sir, &c.,
