It is perfectly true that, as the authors of a

delicately pro- duced and beautifully illustrated book say, visitors to Cape Town are so oftentihirled off at once-tosee Censtantia or to be driven round the- Twelve Apostles (surely one of the world's finest drivel) that they soMem can be brought te .poke round Cape: Town- itself. That the old serene streets and _Dutch houses of Kaapstad are worth seeing is the opinion of Miss Cecil Lewis and Mr. G. E. Edwards, and they have published, largely at their own expense, Cape Town (Specialty Press of South Africa, 21s.) to back-their opinion, and to prove that in and about the Mother City of South Africa there is plenty to delight the eye and stir the historical imagination.
