`Redeemer'

SIR,—Mr. E. M. Milne, who tells us that the use of terms like 'Redeemer' and 'Messiah,' as applicable to Kwame Nkrumah, is a slur devised by reactionary Western newspapers, is not apparently a reader of the Ghanaian press. The Ghana Evening News for example, Which is an evening paper of Kwame Nkrumah's Convention People's Party, regularly carries a column with a picture of Kwame Nkrumah and a standing inscription. 'Your Messianic Dedication.' The same paper is in the habit of referring to President Nkrumah as 'The Holy One,' 'The Son of God' etc. I can assure Mr. Milne that this language is not 'used as a slur.'
