In the Court of Bankruptcy, yesterday, proofs of debt were

taken on the estate of Sir John Ross. Sir John was set down as a banker, being proprietor in a small joint stock bank; but he is better known as the enterprising explorer of the Arctic Seas. The debts and liabilities are estimated at about 10,0001., and the assets at nearly 6001 Sir John's annual income from all sources is 9501. His embarrassment is attributed to losses sustained by the failure of his publishers, and to debts incurred in fitting out one of his expeditions. On Monday, two young Australian boys, with Mr. Eyre, the Australian tra- veller, who brought them to this country, were introduced to the Queen and Prince Albert, at Buckingham Palace, by the Right Honourable W. E. Gladstone, her Majesty's Secretary of State for the Colonies. Her Majesty received her Australian subjects very graciously; and both her Majesty and Prince Albert seemed much pleased with their general appearance and manners [fl—Court Circular.
