The Honourable W H. Downey has withdrawn from the representation

of the county of Rutland, on account (as he observes) of his being "unable to gainsay the startling details in Sir R. Peel's explanations," and yet being unwilling to act contrary to the principles upon which he was elected to the House of Commons. The belief is, that Viscount Canipden will again offer himself for that county; and it is even said that he will not be op- posed.—Lincoln Mercury.

Mr. Mark Blake has resigned the representation of Mayo. The cause is left to conjecture.
