The ballot taken by the' itonmoulders' Unions last week' showed

a majority of about three -to two in favour ' of resuming work on the terms flied by the arbitrators last July and accepted by all the other engineering Trade' Unione. The ironmoulders' gained nothing by a five months' strike and caused great loss to many thousands of their' fellow-workmen. Twice they repudiated the terms arranged for them by their Union leaders, but in the end they saw reason. The inquiry to- be held into the conditions of iron foundries will show whether the mouldere - claim to. larger wages than any other working engineers receive' can be justified. The claim is sure to be controverted by the allied trades, and it was apparently rejected by the arbitrators last summer, but it may ha've mime foundation.
