Sir Frank Benson's production is for the most part adequate .

but Mr. Masetield's incomplete conception of the leaser character. was necessarily reflected in the acting. The ghost who cries ir at the window in the first act, with his "Stamp your foot, Porn. pey ! Stamp your foot!" is indeed one of the most convincing of the dramatic personae. Pompey the Great is not as suceessful a play as Abraham Lincoln, and is indeed full of faults, but when all of them have been found and admitted the play remain' a thoroughly interesting evening's entertainment.
