The Lefebvre disconnection

Sir: As a supporter of the Pius X Society, founded by Archbishop Lefebvre, I declare my interest in questioning David Gollob's statement (10 July) that Juan Fernandez Krohn, the attempted assassin of Pope John Paul, 'is a member of Lefebvre's . . . organisation'. He was expelled from it over a year ago because of his insubordination and his extreme views. David Gollob should know this and should not represent that Krohn is still a member.

The purpose of the Pius X Society is the active preservation of the Old Mass, the Tridentine Mass, by setting up centres for its celebration. It is in no way political though, speaking for myself, I could never support an anti-God philosophy or party. M. R. Williamson
