The Dee arrived at Southampton, yesterday, with the West India

mails. The only news of interest is from Jamaica. The Retrenchment Bill passed by the House of Assembly, which reduced salaries by a total of 40,000/, had been rejected by the Board of Council; though the Assembly had previously resolved to vote no supplies for farther than the 15th February if the bill were rejected. Other de- cisions of the Council in opposition to the Assembly had contributed to make the breach between them wider than ever; and the House had passed a resolution by 29 to 9—the 9 being the entire "King's-house party"—declaring their want of confidence in the Council. Mr. Barkly had arrived at Georgetown, and had been well received by the people of Demerara. The Dee has brought home Captain Sturdee and part of the crew of the Forth.
