Changing times

CHRISTOPHER HOLLIS

It has been suggested that we might have Summer Time all the year round.

If all the year were summer and reason went with rhyme Then nothing would be rummer than keep- ing standard time.

We'd rise at half past seven and call it half past eight The patient sun in heaven would never not be late.

But since in mid-December before the clocks strike nine One hardly can remember the sun knows how to shine, It's best as God arranged it with twelve o'clock for noon.

I can't think why they changed it; pray God they'll change back soon.

What between early rising and going late to bed It's not at all surprising if most of us are dead.
