The General Assembly of the Church of Scotland came to

a very important vote on Tuesday, on the motion of Lord MostratievE. It was decided by a majority of 46, the numbers being 184 to 138, that heads of families in communion with the Church should have an un- qualified veto on the nominee of the patron. Thus the patronage question is virtually settled; though the legal right of presentation re- mains to be dealt with.
