Oxenford's version of the old French vaudeville Tiridate en- titled

The Tragedy Queen, has been revived at the Olympic, for the sake of Mrs. Stirling, who plays the principal character as admirably an ever. Although this piece is taken from the French, the couleur loecle is made thoroughly English. The Madame Dumenil of the original becomes the _pretty Mistress Anne Bracegirdle ; the stern father (exceedingly well .played by Mr. Emery) is made a provincial Puritan ; and the allusions to the stage, which in the French refer to the classic reign of Racine, are here pointed to the bombastic despotism.Of Dryden and Lee.
