In the House of Commons on Wednesday the Minister of

Labour, Sir Robert Home, said that under the homing schemes one hundred thousand houses would be completed in the first year and two hundred thousand in the second year. The Government were providing more work than any Government in this country had ever provided. The Road Board had made grants of 11,500,000 for the repair of roads. Several other schemes for the public benefit which would employ labour had been sanctioned. " The number of unemployed," Sir Robert Home added, " is now lees than it has been at any time during the past ten weeks." He added that all percent. of the 2,800,000 discharged soldiers had been reabsorbed into industry.
