"TO THEIR SLOW PREMIER"

(Resolutions on the Labour Party's Whitsun Conference criticise the Government for not proceeding far and fast with Socialist legislation.)

HAD we but world enough, and time,

This slowness, Attlee, were no crime.

You could consult for years—and then Choose what to nationalise, and when.

But at our back we always hear The next elections hurrying near, And yonder all before us frown Hard times when voters turn us down.

Ex-Ministers may still orate, But none, we think, do legislate.

Now, therefore, while our massed M.P.s Can carry any laws we please (Though Tories all protest at still Less time to study each new Bill)

Speed on—this chance may not come twice—

The Socialistic Paradise! agenda enough
