Reminder to a Symbol

To live as martyr,

The saint we all so badly need—

The man must die.

If not the kind of death decreed, He still niust die.

Like for instance Agnes —Who was meant for raping,

But then her hairs sprang out

And wrapped her in her maidenhead.

—Who was meant for burning, But inexplicably

The oil-soaked faggots all went out.

But Agnes had to die, No other possibility.

—Marry and raise a family?

Write copy for 'Your hair restored' Or fire insurance?

After this endurance She had to die.

A casual guard pushed in his sword, With no one there to see, No inexplicability.

Too many wonders spoil the saint.

Martyrs are both dead and living, But must be dead.

High time, Sir Figurehead, You came-unstuck —Else we shall merely say, 'He has the devil's luck!'
