A map, or rather a set of three maps, said

to have been pre- pared by the Emperor, has been published in Paris. They show the frontiers of France at three periods, and are intended to prove that she is stronger than ever, having gained Savoy and Nice, and helped to divide Austria from Prussia. Formerly France was threatened by the Germanic Confederation, now the strongest State on her borders is Prussia, with only 30,000,000 of people, whereas France, including Algeria, has 40,000,000. If a block of iron ore is more dangerous than a rapier in an enemy's hand, that argument is correct ; and if the Emperor thinks so, why should he be confuted ?
