highly appropriate that the names of the race- horses mentioned in this volume should be uniformly printed in capitals, for the interest of the narrative is wholly dependent on those thin-legged, wire-nerved beauties. Mr. Darling is a well-known trainer who recently retired from what he calls "the profession," and through whose hands have passed the winners of many great races.
