That 'Conservative'

Sir: May I remind 'A Conservative' who reviewed Right Turn of George Meredith's definition of cynicism as 'intellectual dandyism'. The ordinary people of this coun- try, who are weary of left-wing and anarchist cynicism about both our past greatness and our present insti- tutions, expect something better from the right. We shall continue to give it to them.
