The Duke of Buckingham, a magnate remarkable as a young

man for having carried the only successful amendment on the Reform Bill, the well-known " Chandos clause," and as an old one for the utter ruin which suddenly overtook him, died on Monday, the 29th inst. He is succeeded by his son, whose business capacity will repair, it is believed, in part the ruin caused by his father's passion for territorial acquisition.
