Mr. Grantley Berkeley has been making a " Conservative" speech

to the electors of West Gloucestershire. They were very angry at Mr. Somerset's victory, and made a great noise, whereupon Mr. Grantley Berkeley told them in the same breath that they were "no fitter for the suffrage than so many animals," and that he stood by the Tory party and its Bill, which has enfranchised the -animals. Mr. Disraeli will not thank Mr. Berkeley for being so frank, though Mr. Bright may, and the electors pelted him off the hustings with rotten eggs.
