The Sultan having visited the City during the Lord Mayoralty

of Mr. Thomas Gabriel, he has been created a Baronet. The Sheriffs, Aldermen Waterlow and Lyeett, have been knighted at the same time and for the same reason, and Alderman Rose because he was Mayor when the Prince and Princess of Wales were enter- tained. The public is heartily pleased at the recognition, acci- dental though it be, of Alderman Waterlow's services to the poor.
