Pos- sibly he is not serious ; he cannot be in suggesting that the term "gentle art" should be transferred to cycling. There are n scorchers," or next to none, nowadays ! Half-an-hour on a Saturday afternoon or a Sunday within thirty miles of London or any great town will tell a different tale. But all this is scarcely ad rem. The "literary landmarks" associated with Cobbett, Jane Austen, Gilbert White, Charles Kingsley, and others are welcome, however they may be reached. Does nobody walk nowadays?
