In the House of Commons on Thursday the President of

the Board of Trade announced that the Government intend to give notice of their withdrawal from the Sugar Convention. We have always regarded the arbitrary interference with the free access to our ports involved in the Convention with strong dislike. It was certainly not Free Trade. We cannot enter upon a corre- spondence on this subject.
