John Moorton, a labouring man, has been taken into custody

for throwing a " sleeper " on the Birkenhead Railway, near Sutton, half- way from Birkenhead to Chester. A. train was stopped, but not much damaged. Moorton had been heard to say, the day before, " I wish the rails were turned upside down, and the sleepers topmost ; it would make some work." He is to be reexamined today.
