, I referred last week to the excellent Report of the Royal Bank of Scotland and I am glad to note that the Report recently issued by the Commercial Bank of Scotland also indicates increased activity north of the Tweed. The Deposits advanced during the year by about £4,000,000, while there was a rise In the Loans and Advances of over £x,5oo,00cr. A further addition of £5o,00o to. the Reserve _brings that Fund up to considerably over £3,000,000s,. or.nearly £ i,000,000 in excess of the subscribed and paid-up capital, while the balance-sheet is again a liquid one.
