Stopping the Rot

SIR,—When my husband, who is a physician, has a patient whose complaint is due to wrong diet he pre- scribes a change of diet Complaints such as con- stipation, skin trouble. gastro-enteritis, obesity deficiency disease, and many other troubles—even coronary disease and peptic ulcer—call for dietary alterations.

Will some of those who keep babbling about fluoride and now (January 13 and 20) electric tooth- brushes (Leslie Adrian and R. Miller Yardley for example) please explain why they avoid treating the cause of dental caries— why they persist in treating symptoms instead of disease? In most cases dental caries is due to wrong diet. Minor changes in the diet would effect considerable improvement, Anyone with the money to buy an electric tooth- brush and the wit lig use one could embark on a diet which will allow than to retain such teeth as they have well into, mi4file age . . . and also reduce their candidacy for the siring of diseases noted above (thus reducing the NH costs).
