The Emperors of Russia and Austria have met and kissed
each other. The place was Eger, a horrid little railway station in Bohemia, and the interview lasted only one hour. No Ministers were present, and it is thought therefore that no politics were discussed, and it would seem certain that no agreements were made. A good deal can be said, however, in an hour, and when a Sovereign is unquestioned master of his army, a remark that he shall risk a good deal rather than allow certain designs to succeed may have great significance.
