We have received the Annual Register for 1879 (Rivingtons), with

its usual contents, "English History" and "Foreign History," con- stituting, together with a "Retrospect of Literature, Science, and Art," a first part, and a second part, containing "A Chronicle of Events," "The Ministry," "Obituary of Eminent Persons," "Pro- motions and Appointments," ,ke. The Register has now attained the very respectable age of 122 years ; certain changes are announced in the preface to the present volume. We wish it continued success.
