The great railway from the Atlantic to the Pacific across

the Canadian Dominion was opened on June 28th, when the first train started for the through journey. The Canadians hope that, besides opening up their own territories, and bringing the beautiful island of Vancouver within the range of emigration, this railway will offer a new route for travellers and commerce between Asia, America, and Europe. They even propose to connect the Dominion with Australia by cable.
