An Introduction to the Study of African Languages is a

course of lectures delivered by Professor Carl Meinhof and translated by Miss A. Werner, Lecturer in Swahili at King's College (J. M. Dent and Sons, 4s. 6d. net). The book is likely to be of interest not only to those for whom a knowledge of African languages is of commercial importance, but also to students of comparative philology. It is illustrated by a map showing the distribution over Africa of the six great linguistic families wliich include over five hundred separate languages.
