SINN FEIN PROPAGANDA.

[To THE EDITOR OF THE " SPECTATOR.")

Sia,—Professor Henry quotes one man, Lord Campbell (not a very good authority), to the effect that in 1833 the English hated the Irish. It is an absurd deduction to make from one man's speech; but at all events another man of those times thought quite differently—my own grandfather, Sir Francis Burdett. He had great sympathy with the Irish and often visited Ireland. I have letters of his showing this, and it must be remembered that he led a party, though in Parliament a small one, and there can be little doubt that his followers agreed with him. to say nothing of his constituents, since he always freely

expressed his opinions.—I am, Sir, &c., LATEMER.
