PRINTING TRADE PROSPECTS It is common knowledge that the newspaper

industry is faced this year with higher prices for newsprint, so that Lord South- wood's review at the meeting of Odhams Press last week must be regarded as encouraging. While he warned shareholders that they were faced with much increased costs both of paper and of labour, he anticipated that the board would find it pos- sible to recover a large part of the additional cost. He reported also that Odhams (Watford), who own the sole British rights of the Speedry process of colour-printing, were finding the process very successful and would shortly make an issue of capital to finance factory extensions. Preferential rights to subscribe are to be offered to shareholders of all the Odhams group.
