Stories in Precious Stones. By Helen Zimmern. (Henry S. King

and Co.)—A pretty little conceit, prettily bound, excellent print, and fairly good illustrations. This little book contains a tale for every month in the year, written about the stone to which the month is dedi- cated, or which is dedicated to the month, we are not very clear which. In some cases, as, for instance, that of the Blood Stone, a legend of the stone is recorded ; in others, the link between the tale and the gem is exceedingly slight, and the tale itself often rather feeble. The last story is decidedly the best, and belongs to the class to which the elder children gathered round a nursery fire delight to listen.
