Messrs. Constable have now published here The Education of Henry

Adams (21s. net), the American edition of which we reviewed at length some time ago. The title must not deter any one from reading this witty and fascinating autobiography. The chapters on English society between 1861 and 1868, when Henry Adams was acting as secretary to his father at the American Embassy here, are especially attractive. Adams's account of a reception at Lord Palmerston's or a little dinner at Monckton Milani's is inimitable. This is not one of the ephemeral books that one reads and throws aside ; it is a book that will bear reading again and again as the revelation of a remarkable character.
