The reparations situation does not seem to have ' changed greatly

since we wrote last week, but what change there has been is, on the whole, hopeful. On Thursday, April 24th, the replies. of the British, French and Belgian Governments reached the Reparations- Commission, and were followed on Saturday by the Italian reply. All the Governments except the French accept the Report in its entirety as a basis of settlement. The Belgian Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary are undertaking a little tour of the Allied capitals. On Monday they were in Paris, where they saw M. Poineare, and expressed satisfaction with their interview. The Repar- ations Commission has decided to take no further action until the delicate negotiations between the Allied Govern., ments reach a further stage. Thus no very immediate', development from the Allied side can be expected.
