Toe Municipal elections for England and Wales took place on Wednesday. As yet, comparatively few returns have been re- ceived: but, so far, neither party appears to have much cause for boasting over the other. The Liberals claim an advantage in Liverpool, Harwich, Norwich, Bedford, Northampton, 1Visbecb, Stockport, Hull, Lincoln, Saffron Walden, Sudbury, High Wycombe.

The Tories proclaim victories in Bristol,

Leeds, Colchester, Stamford,

Coventry, Oxford, Salisbury, Wallingford, Kingston.upon-Thames, Cambridge, Lynn, Hertford.

The elections have excited a good deal of interest in their re- spective localities.
