The Quiver. (Cassell and Co.)—This "Illustrated Magazine for Sunday and

General Leading" is kept to its high standard of merit. Fiction is fairly represented, but it is not predominant among the contents. These are judiciously varied. The interests which they treat have a wide range, but it may fairly be said that they all tend to edification. The " interview " is naturally not wanting ; but as it here appears we are reconciled to its use. No one can read Professor Max Muller on "Young Oxford" and Dr. Barnado on his work, without being glad that they had an opportunity of delivering themselves in this purely informal fashion. We commend especially what Dr. Barnado has to say, to our readers. He has enemies, and his public appearances are not always to his advantage ; but he has a very fine apologia pro vitd suet at his command.
