The Comprehensive Standard Dictionary of the English Language. By J.

C. Fernald. (Funk and Wagnalls. Ae. net.) —This dictionary, abridged for popular use from the New Standard Dictionary of the same publishers, has many good features. The best of these, from the point of view of the hasty user, is that it has only one vocabulary, including proper names, abbreviations, Sze. The definitions are clear though concise, and the pronunciation is plainly marked. The spelling is American ; " honor" is given as the correct form, and " honour " as a variant—though " through " is allowed as much authority as the barbarous " thru."
