UNSIGHTLY TOMBSTONES.

It is to be hoped that the General Council for the Preserva- tion of Churchyards, organized by the Church Assembly, will do something to prevent the erection of unsightly tombstones. Only a few days ago when visiting a beautiful historic Church- yard I was horrified to find that several hideous tombstones had been put up during the past two years—two in particu- lar being made of a particularly glaring white marble, which will never tone or lose its colour. Can nothing be done to stop the desecration of these hallowed places ?— OBSERVER.
