More up and down

Sir: Does Taki phone it in? Hemingway didn't describe Switzerland as 'more upside down than sideways' (High life, 21 March)• The reference is an article Hemingway wrote for the Toronto Star Weekly in 1922, which begins: 'Switzerland is a small, steep country, much more up and down than sideways, and is all stuck over with large brown hotels built on the cuckoo clock style of architecture.'
